Mevva Mullins Hodges

Mevva Mullins Hodges, age 87 of Rocky Mount passed peacefully away Saturday, January 17, 2026 with family by her side.

Prior to Mevva meeting her husband Dan of 65 years and raising her family; she was in nursing school at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mevva used this throughout her life to help her community and others.

Mevva was a very loved, talented, and amazing woman. She enjoyed gardening, time in her flower beds, making baskets, sewing and cooking and feeding everyone and anyone that came into her kitchen. She never judged anyone, was always kind and compassionate and she will be greatly missed.

Mevva was preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul and Gracie Mullins; parents, Harry and Ruth Mullins; brother, Doug Mullins; and daughter, Teresa Hartman. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Dan Hodges; son, Bobby Hodges (Mona); daughter, Kimberly Rorrer (Doug); as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

We want to say a special thank you to Carilion hospice for their services and support especially: Helen, Hanna, Heather, Sabrina, Stephanie, CeCe and Rick. Also, a special thank you to her caregiver Stacey.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
