Michael Eugene Byrd

Michael Eugene Byrd, age 68 of Boones Mill, Va. passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017. He is preceded in death by his mother, Reva Wilson Byrd; father-in-law, Marvin Webster, Sr. Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Judy Webster Byrd; father, Clarence W. Byrd; mother-in-law, Dorothy Webster; brother, Don Byrd (Barbara); sister, Sharon Layman (Dan); his in-laws, M. Cary Webster (Carolyn), Dottie Truman (Wayne), Shirley Simmons (Andrew); several nieces and nephews, Terry Blankenship (Philip), Jason Byrd (Kelly), Katie Flynn (Peter), Daniel Layman, David Webster (Mitzi), Brad Truman (Missy), Melissa Truman and Marvin Simmons (Kasey); several great nieces and nephews along with aunts and uncles; his beloved pet dogs, Joey and Dakota. After a career in Home Manufacturing Mike retired as President/CEO of Smart Machines, Martinsville, Va. He was a member of Bethlehem Church of the Brethren where he served in many capacities over the years including Trustee, Deacon Chairman, Board Chairman and Finance Committee. Mike was a caring husband, son, brother, friend and neighbor always desiring to help others. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Church of the Brethren Cemetery. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Church of the Brethren 4250 Bethlehem Road, Boones Mill, Va 24065. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
