Michael Shannon Laury

Michael Shannon Laury, age 64 of Rocky Mount passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024. He was born February 26, 1960, a son of the late James and Kate Laury and was also preceded in death by his son, Joshua S. Laury; nephews, Andy and Joey Hayes; brother-in-law, Danny Hayes; father-in-law, William Buckner; sister-in-law, Lisa B. Forbes. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Donna Buckner Laury; sons, Jeremy M. Laury (Melissa) and Jacob W. Laury; grandchildren, Christopher J. Laury and Emma M. Laury; sister, Terri Laury Hayes; brother, Dennis Laury (Clarita); niece, Caroline Laury; mother-in-law, Barbara Buckner; sister-in-law, Lori Buckner Toler. Michael was retired from Taylor Communication (formerly known as Burroughs Corporation/Standard Register) with over 40 years of service in Virginia, Missouri and Pennsylvania. He loved and enjoyed life, all types of sports, water skiing, swimming and just sitting in the sun. However, his biggest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Mike never met a stranger and would help anyone. He will be missed more with each passing day. Services will be private. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
