Michael Gene Morris

Michael Gene Morris born, February 28, 1944, died October 22, 2020. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Paige McPhail Morris. Also preceded by his parents, Brady Lee (Coon) and Lena Morris; brothers, Jimmy, Archie and Danny Morris and grandson, Paul Smith. Michael is survived by his daughter, Catherine “Cathy” Smith Carney and son, James Lee “Jimmy” Morris; grandchildren, Cory Smith,  Michelle Smith , Justin Morris, Jesse and Nikki Smith; great-grandchildren, Jade Eldridge, Camryn and Ashlyn Morris, Stormi Smith, Caleb and Sam Eldridge; brother, Allen (Margaret) Morris; sister, Janice (Larry) Fraley; sister-in-law, Mysie “Kitten” (Timmy) Camper; seven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends, including  special niece, Bryanna Diggs. Michael served in the National Guard from 1961-1964. He and Paige were married in 1962. Michael worked in a shoe factory in Bangor, Maine for two years; retired from Roanoke Electric Steel after 25 years and worked part time for Yetter Home Products during his early retirement.  Michael and Paige enjoyed the early years of retirement, working together doing store sets for Yetter across the Eastern USA.  They also enjoyed vacation trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. He leaves behind many memories and will be missed. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Mountain View Memorial Park with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating.  His family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the cemetery.
