Michael Ray Wood passed away on August 31, 2021 at the age of 56. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Roy Wood: father-in-law, Donald Jones. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Amy Jones Wood; two sons, Trevor Jones and Keaton Wood; two daughters, Hannah Hostutler (Matthew) and Sophie Wood; mother and step-father, Clyde Wood Bowman and Carl Bowman: brother, Ronnie Wood; sister-in-law, Su Smith; nieces, Ashley Clark (Ryan) and Lauren Wood; great-nieces, Whitney and Emmalyn Clark; mother-in-law, Pamela Jones; sister-in-law, Angela Barbour (Phil); brother-in-law, Andrew Jones (Kerry); aunts, Mabel Angell and Jewell Bowman; uncle, Earl Flora; and numerous cousins. Michael spent 30 years as a neon sign maker. He loved bending glass and took great pride in his work, which is displayed throughout the Roanoke Valley and inside Eagle Cinema in Rocky Mount. Michael enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs and cats, as well as his grand dogs. He also loved eating watermelon, peppers (the hotter the better), and any concoction of food he could make. Michael will be forever loved and will be missed tremendously. His family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount. Burial will take place in Bethlehem Church of the Brethren Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial donations be made to Bethlehem Church of the Brethren.
