Mike Greer

Mike Greer went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, early Thursday, April 4, 2019 following complications from cancer surgery. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Laurie McDaniel Greer; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Greer Peters and Joel; parents, Johnie and Patricia Greer; brother, Robert Greer; mother and father-in-law, Charles and Sarah McDaniel; and granddaughter to be, Annie Grace Peters. In addition, he is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Russ and Nancy McDaniel; Claire and Mike Cline, and Melinda and Vaughn Arthur. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Edwin and Minnie Greer, and Gordon and Annie Reynolds; uncle and aunt, Clyde and Jeanette Adkins; and cousin, Tammy Reynolds Seamon.

Mike was an active lifetime member of Glade Hill Baptist Church, currently serving as chairman of Deacons and also a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was also involved in numerous community organizations and loved cheering on his beloved Hokies. Throughout his career, he was dedicated to his work families and never met a stranger. He will be missed by all who knew him. No one could ask for a better husband, father, son, brother, cousin, or friend. He couldn't wait to be a grandpa and will be watching Annie Grace from above.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Glade Hill Baptist Church. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the many health care providers from a number of teams who went above and beyond to give him the best care possible.

Funeral services will be conducted at Glade Hill Baptist Church, 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2019 with Dr. Wayburn Mosley and Rev. David Long officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Glade Hill Baptist Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
