Murray W. Doughton, age 82 of Rocky Mount, died Monday, March 23, 2009.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Annie Kinsley Doughton and Linda Clemons Doughton; son-in-law, Michael Lefever; and sisters, Ruby Frith and Hazel Faulkner.
Surviving are his children, Janie Lefever, Danny Doughton, Jimmie Doughton and wife Rita; grandchildren, Rhonda Poff (John), Stephen Lefever, Emilee Lowe (T.J.), Joseph Doughton, Lynnie Doughton (Jennifer), Katherine Morris (Robbie); great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Evan and Jason Poff, Piper Doughton, Luke and Sophia Morris; brothers, Charlie Doughton (Mildred), Paul Doughton (Margaret); sister, Edna Wallace (Jack); and special friend, Norene Bollings.
Funeral services will be conducted from Bethlehem United Methodist Church 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Mark Deane officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Carilion Hospice of Franklin County.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Rita Doughton, treas., 2085 Crooked Oak Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday with his family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
