Myrtle Perdue Houston, age 92 of Glade Hill passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010. She loved her children and being a homemaker and raising a family. She was born March 29, 1918 a daughter of the late Homer and Bertha Blankenship Perdue and was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Houston; brother, Clarence Perdue; and sisters, Mary Fralin and Ruth Fralin. Surviving are her children, Donald R. Houston, Larry and Patsy Houston, Sue and Danny Chitwood, Sharon Jones; grandchildren, Lynne and Rob Blankenship, Cheryl and Chris Bailey, Greg and Kim Chitwood; great-grandchildren, Hunter and William Blankenship, Madaleine Bailey, Tyler and Hannah Chitwood; sister, Nellie Kirk; numerous nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Janice White and Rebecca Hodges. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Liz Lazenby officiating. Interment will follow in the Perdue Family Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount and other times at the home of Danny and Sue Chitwood, 5112 Old Franklin Turnpike, Glade Hill, Virginia 24092.
