Nadene Scruggs Truman, age 83 of Wirtz, Virginia passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017. She was retired from Franklin County Public Schools after 30 years as a teacher’s assistant, where she adored working with the children and her co-workers. Her life was God, Family, and home where she loved cooking, canning and helping her husband Sherman on the farm. She was a devout Christian who’s faith was constant. She was a member of Wirtz Assembly of God Church. Nadene was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William Sherman Truman; son, David Sherman Truman; parents, O.H. and Ethel Scruggs; sisters, Phyllis Scruggs Bartlett and Mary Frances Scruggs; brothers, Bobby, William, Jessie, Cecil, Richard and R.J. Scruggs; along with a special friend Kathleen Truman. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Wayne Angle; grandsons, Matthew Angle, Brian Angle (Lisa), Zack Truman, great-granddaughter, Claire Angle (Granna’s Little Bit); sisters-in-law; Oleta, Ruth and Sandra Scruggs; brother-in-law, Dickie Bartlett; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Curtis and Joyce Ann Wade; many nieces and nephews. A special thank you for all her caregivers and to Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospice services for their care and love. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 with Pastor Denver Turner and Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
