Nancy Mae Powell Duffy, 90, of 32 Village Ave., died Monday, November 24, 2014 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

Ms. Duffy was born in Franklin County, VA on April 26, 1924, and was the daughter of the late Henry Lewis and Mary Belle Frith Powell. A retired bookkeeper, she was an avid quilter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Duffy; three sisters, Hazel Powell, Elizabeth Carter, and Doris Nutter; and by a brother, William Powell.

Surviving are her two daughters, Rosemary Alston of Windsor and Nora Cobb of Colerain; three sons, John Duffy of Ridgefield Park, NJ, Michael Duffy of Stroudsburg, PA, and Thomas Duffy of Switzerland; a sister, Barbara Dunkley of Gladys, VA; two brothers, James Powell and Clifford Powell, both of Rocky Mount, VA; three grandchildren, Sean McConnell, Callie Rose Mizelle, and Shannon Duffy; three great-grandchildren, Bentley Mizelle and Kellen and Rose McConnell; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Memorial services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Her family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Her final resting place will be in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, c/o Angie Weddle 2300 McNeil Road Rocky Mount, Va. 24151.
