Nancy Plybon Martin Haynes Voorhees, age 98 of Rocky Mount died Tuesday, November 23, 2010. She retired from the Franklin County School System and was an Avon Representative. for 38 years. She was born on a farm in Franklin County where she grew up with her 11 brothers and sisters, tending the fields, as well as quilting, tatting and other talents. Mrs. Voorhees was a member, clerk and treasurer of Camp Branch Primitive Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Martin, J.G. Haynes and L.A. Voorhees; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Lee and C.H. Divers; and 10 siblings. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, James G. and Ann Scott Haynes; very special friend, Lynette Eubank; sister, Dossie Martin of Roanoke; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Friday with Elder Alan Terry officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Special thanks to the staff of Team Nurse, Rocky Mount and Good Samaritan Hospice of Roanoke for their care and concern. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Road Roanoke, VA 24018. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
