Nannie Kate Reynolds

Nannie Kate Reynolds age 90 of Glade Hill, Va. departed this earthly life peacefully on January 22, 2012 at Red Oak Manor where she made her home since September 29, 2006 being in declining health for the past nine months. She was the daughter of the late Walter A. Reynolds and Nannie Kate Hunt Reynolds, born September 15, 1921. Her mother passed away when she was 3 days old and she was raised by her aunt and uncle Charlie and Ella R. English of Glade Hill, VA . She was preceded in death by both sets of parents, her brothers, Roy, Lloyd, Gordon, Buford, Raymond and sisters, Doris Reynolds, Norwood W. English, Sallie Nadine, Mary Lewis and Mary Ann English Adkins. She was a graduate of Glade Hill High School in 1937 and from Jefferson Hospital, Roanoke in 1943 with an RN Nurses degree and worked there until 1952. She attended Cincinnati Bible Seminary graduating in 1954 and worked there as Dean of Women and School Nurse. She returned to Franklin County in 1964 to care for her mom who raised her and whom she dearly loved. She also worked for Franklin Memorial Hospital, Wolfe Medical Group and Glade Hill Clinic for Dr. Frank Dudley. She was a member and very active in Forrest Hill Christian Church teaching the Adult Ladies Class, a choir member and was a camp nurse for Camp Pitt. Left to cherish her loving and caring attitude are a brother and sister-in-law, Garland Page and Shelba English of Glade Hill; brother-in-law, Tal Adkins of Rocky Mount; sister-in-law, Annie M. Reynolds of Glade Hill; English nieces and nephews, Bonnie and Preston Belcher, Betty and David Hodges, Vicky and Ricky Prillaman, Shay E. and Jeff Brill, Gina E. and K.C. Miller; great nieces and nephews, Cheryl and Todd Grindstaff, Tracy and Scott Wilkerson, P.O. Belcher, Eric Prillaman and Tonya, Shelby and Page Bradley Miller; great-great nieces and nephews, Taylor Grindstaff, Huntley Grindstaff, Zachery and Trevor Wilkerson, Trip and Kolby Belcher and Abby Hatchett, Brennan Prillaman; Reynolds nieces and nephews, Larry and Diane Reynolds, Gary and Barbara Reynolds, Drucille Cassell, JoAnne R. Belcher, Barbara Renick, Carolyn R. Bowles, Debra R. Walker, Cindy R. and Don Otey, Junior and Jeanette R. Adkins, Johnie and Pat R. Greer, Ronnie and Brenda R. Tyree, Nancy Reynolds, C.B. and Judy Reynolds, Gwynn and Phyllis Tyler, Judy R. Reynolds, Jerry and Linda Reynolds, Jermone Reynolds, Nick and Jackie Zeltvay and Cecil and Audrey R. Hodges. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Forrest Hill Christian Church with Minister, Ted Clifton and Minister Larry Owen officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Forrest Hill Christian Church, 13185 Snow Creek Road, Penhook, Va. Special thanks to the staff of Red Oak Manor and Medi Hospice of Roanoke for their services to her for the past 5 ½ years, to the ones who visited her and to special couples, Bill and Mary New and Renny and Polly Bowles for their weekly visits, the family is very grateful.
