Nathaniel Jackson “Jack” Witcher, age 72 of Wirtz died Thursday, July 24, 2008 in the local hospital.
He was born on July 5, 1936 a son of the late Rucker M., Sr. and Etta Mae Martin Witcher and was also preceded in death by his brother, Rucker M. Witcher, Jr.
Mr. Witcher was a retired employee of Rubatex Corporation and a former member of the Scruggs Vol. Rescue Squad.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Meador Witcher; sisters, Mary Flo (Wilford) Simmons and Geraldine Witcher Price; sister-in-law, Leevene Sink Witcher; brother-in-law, Carroll Junior Meador; many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 with Minister Steve Pasley officiating. Interment will follow in Epworth United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Scruggs Vol. Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 844, Hardy, VA 24101.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
