Nelson L. Prillaman, Sr., age 90 of 4869 Virgil Goode Highway, Rocky Mount, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, May 25 at his home. He was born in Franklin County on June 30, 1919 to the late Benjamin T. Prillaman and Mary Ellen Ross Prillaman. He served the country during World War II in Company B of the 133rd Combat Engineer Battalion and retired from DuPont in Martinsville in June 1981 with 30 years of service. He was a member of Doe Run Christian Church in Rocky Mount. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dura E. Lavinder; and brothers, Walter E. Prillaman and Harold B. Prillaman. Surviving are his wife, Lucy T. Prillaman; one daughter, Connie P. Spencer of Rocky Mount and her fiancé Mike Angle; two sons, Nelson L. Prillaman, Jr. of Salem and his wife Donna D. Prillaman and Ronald E. Prillaman of Salem and his wife Kristi S. Prillaman; one sister, Arlene Stultz of Hialeah, Florida and her husband Gerald Stultz; one brother-in-law, W. Noel Lavinder of Martinsville; two sisters-in-law, Frances T. McGhee of Rocky Mount and her husband William (Bill) A. McGhee and Anne B. Tyree of Henry; four grandchildren, J. Brad Spencer (Michele N. Reynolds), Megan F. Spencer, Makenna E. Prillaman, and Joshua O. Prillaman; and one great grandson, Tyler M. Spencer. Graveside services will be conducted from Franklin Memorial Park 11 a.m. Friday with Chaplain Stuart Kelly officiating. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral & Cremation Service, Rocky Mount.
