Norma Jean Cecil went to be reunited with her beloved husband Charles Douglas Cecil Sr. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. She was born May 6, 1934, daughter of the late Thomas Selkirk and Stella Selkirk Bennett. She is also preceded in death by a son; David Patrick Cecil; brother Bobby (Doris) Selkirk; sister, Violet (Otis) Irvin; sister-in-law, Louise (Larry) Frost and Anice (Allen) Dancy. Norma Jean grew up in the Masonic Home in Parkersburg, West Virginia where she realized her dream to become a nurse. She was active in the local bluegrass music community and enjoyed crafting, gardening and spending time with her church family. She loved spending time in Florida during the winter months. Norma Jean touched the lives of those she met with her kindness and compassion. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children Charles Douglas Cecil, Jr., Susan Jean Cecil and Fiance? Tim Hunt; daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Cecil; four grandchildren, Sarah (Kevin) Riley, Adam Cecil, Morgan and Jessica White; two brothers, John (Dee) and William (Margaret) Selkirk; brother-in-law; Lawrence (Peggy) Cecil; many beloved neices, nephews and cherished friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Red Valley United Methodist Church with the Reverend Joshua King officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4 until 7 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center.
