Ocie Sloane Richardson

Ocie Lee Sigmon Sloane Richardson, age 93 of Rocky Mount and formerly of Ferrum, passed away Monday February 4, 2008. She was born May 23, 1914 to the late Andrew Jackson and Annie Laura Gusler Sigmon. In addition to her dear parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Coty Hicks Slone; daughter Ruby Jarret Slone Hodges; sisters Roxie Wimmer, Myrtle Kahwajy; brothers Grady and Claude Sigmon. Surviving are four daughters Rita Lockwood Slone Bridges (Browning), Janet Galaxy Slone Hodges, Delia Lee Slone Blankenship (Herman), Fatena Gale Slone Love (Randy); grandchildren Lewis Bridges, Debra Bridges, Alan Hodges, Sabrina Hodges Tyndall, Jeffrey Hodges, Slone Hodges Lang, Laura Hodges Hernandez, Douglas Hodges, Debbie Blankenship Snoots, David Blankenship, John Love, Shea Love Angell, Randy Love, Jr., Tammy Love; brother Gail Sigmon (Edith); her special buddy and great-granddaughter Paige Arrington; twenty-one great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Slone Hodges Lang for all of the loving care and joy she brought her grandmother. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Friday with Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in the Slone Family Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Thursday with her family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount. .
