Oley Lynn Grose

Oley Lynn Grose, age 76 of Ferrum went to be with his friend Jesus, the Man from Galilee on Friday, March 1, 2013. He was born in Ghent, W.Va. on October 21, 1936. He was preceded in death by his father, Roland Grose; and his mother, Minnie Grose Hutchens. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Shirley Belcher Grose (Squirt) and daughter Tawnya Grose of the home. Also three daughters, Robbin (Bobby) Wright, Leigh Ann Kidd and Erin Blair; four grandchildren, David and Jason Wright, Jackie and Mandie Thurston; two great-grandchildren, Travis Broughman and Hope Smith; one brother, Samuel (Mary) Grose of Ohio; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Grose was employed with Winn Dixie Stores, Inc. for 38 years and retired as Store Location Manager in Rocky Mount in 1997 with 26 years of service. He was a member of Light House Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. A special thanks to the Franklin County Public Safety Squads for their assistance. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Bob Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park with Pastor Mark Stugelmeyer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. His family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
