Onley Smith Board, Jr.

Onley Smith "Junior" Board, 91 of Glade Hill passed away Monday, January 6, 2014. He was born June 16, 1922, to the late Onley Smith and Essye Laprade Board and was also preceded by his wife Pauline "Polly" Hall Board; brothers, Tommy Board, Edgar Board and wife Ruby, Henry Board and wife Julia, George Board and wife Margaret; sister, Gwindolyn Board Phillips. Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Tom Myers, Roanoke, Nancy and Gary Flora, Boones Mill; sons, Billy, Ken, Jimmy and wife Eileen all of Glade Hill; grandchildren, Travis Board, Melia Chitwood and husband Brandon, Megan Summers and husband Dan, Jared Flora, Kevin Board and Kyle Board; great-grandchildren, Ainsley Alfaro, Taylor Board, Keelie Board, Reid Chitwood, Sawyer Chitwood; sister, Essyebelle Hudson and husband Ned; sisters-in-law, Pauline Board and Avis Board; brother-in-law, Don Phillips; devoted caregiver Hollie Stansbury; numerous nieces and nephews; his little dog, Dusty. Mr. Board served his country in the US Army during World War II, farmed his lifetime and retired from Lane Furniture Company. Memorial services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2013 with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Glade Hill Rescue Squad c/o Capt. Doug O?Neal, P. O. Box 23, Redwood, VA 24146.
