Opal Altice Kingery, age 86 of Rocky Mount died Friday, January 3, 2014. The daughter of John Clarence Altice and Bertha Adams Altice, she was born on August 19, 1927 in Rocky Mount, Va. She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde Eldridge Kingery; son, Dexter Kingery; grandson, Jody Kingery-Page; and brothers, Everett Altice, George Altice, James (Jimmy) Altice, and Frederick Altice. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Haliburton and her husband, Harold Haliburton, and Sarah Dozema and her husband, Lee Dozema; son, Roger Kingery and partner, H.W. Scott; grandson, Dexter Lynn Kingery; great-granddaughter, Virginia Iris Kingery; sisters, Pauline Kingery, Tenny Altice Stewart, and Betty Altice; brothers, Eldridge (Bozo) Altice, Andrew Altice, and Thomas (Eddie) Altice; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was happy in her role as a home maker, avid Gardner and busy with her many crafts and hobbies up until the end of her life. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 4 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be private in Mountain View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Her family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
