Opal Ramsey

Opal Moore Smith Ramsey, age 90 of Rocky Mount, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012. She was born on November 22, 1922, in Endicott, Virginia, the daughter of the late Hobart and Ethel Thompson Moore. In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husbands, Florentine Smith and Harold Ramsey; and by her son, Edward J. Smith. Opal is survived by her daughter-in-law, Wanda Frith Smith Fischbach (Larry) of Rocky Mount; and by her grandsons, Blake Smith of Ludlow, the United Kingdom; Kevin Smith of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Brent Smith (Anne-Marie) of California, Maryland; and by great-grandsons, Liam Smith and Colin Smith. Opal is also survived by four step-children, Joel (Rosa) Ramsey, John (Carol) Ramsey, Neil (Shelia) Ramsey, Celeste McPhilamy and their families as well as long-time caregiver, Bonnie Harlow. The family, who invite you to share your favorite memories of Opal, will receive friends 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount, Virginia.
