Ophus Aron Hutcherson, Jr.

Ophus Aron Hutcherson, Jr., age 84 of Glade Hill passed away Monday, January 30, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ophus Hutcherson, Sr. and Edith Banks Hutcherson. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Mabel Rakes Hutcherson; brother, Charles Hutcherson; and granddaughter, Amy Weaver. Surviving are his children, Keith Hutcherson, Steve Hutcherson (Molly), Tina Markham, Rita Smith and Ophus Hutcherson III (Marci); his grandchildren, Chris Weaver (Rose), Zach Markham, Blaine Smith (Jennifer), Vanessa Carnett (Faye), Dr. Brett Hutcherson (Dr. Stephanie), Emily Hutcherson, Kayla Johnson (Cory) and Marindy Hutcherson; great-grandchildren, Danielle Camp, Blake Smith, Grace Weaver, Faith Weaver, Lucas Johnson and Andiline Hutcherson; brother, Kenneth Hutcherson (Sybil); sister, Betty Terry (Richard); special daughter-in-law, Kathy Hutcherson; other family and friends. Special thanks to Runk and Pratt for their care and concern. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2023 with Pastor Danny Poff officiating. Interment will be private in the Rakes Family Cemetery. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
