Orpha Ann Layman Austin, age 91 of Rocky Mount went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2007.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred L. Austin; and their son Roger; and one granddaughter, Valenta Bowman.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Dale Austin (Nancy), Rocky Mount; two daughters, Laquita Bowman (Berlin), Boones Mill, Dianne Rutrough (Jacob), Rocky Mount; daughter-in-law Jane Austin, Ferrum; two brothers, Bill Layman (Mildred), Elida, Ohio, D. M. Layman, Jr. (Ethelene), Wirtz; two sisters, Reva Rumble (Lawrence), Pleasant Hill, Ohio and Marie Filburn, Lapel, Indiana; brother-in-law, Francis Lair, New Carlisle, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Layman, Wirtz and Evelyn Austin, Rocky Mount; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted from Pigg River Old German Baptist Brethren Church 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Clearview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday 2 – 4 and 6 – 9 p.m. at Pigg River Old German Baptist Brethren Church located on Six Mile Post Road, west of Rocky Mount.
The family request that flowers be omitted.
