Otis Wayne Guilliams, age 76 of Ferrum passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. He was born July 1, 1934 to the late Amos and Lillian Guilliams. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Ray Guilliams. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Dean Guilliams; sons, Eddie and Judy Guilliams, Gary and Teresa Guilliams, Bruce Guilliams, and Brian Guilliams. Missing him dearly will be his grandchildren, Travis Guilliams, Jessica and Daniel Shortt, Heather and Malcolm Scott and Jillena Guilliams; two great-grandchildren, Lena Shortt and Ryen Scott. He leaves behind five brothers and their families, Russell Guilliams, David and Iva Guilliams, Cecil and Martha Guilliams, Curtis and Barbara Guilliams, and Harvey Guilliams; two sisters and their families, Norma Jean and Newton Guilliams, Darla Ann and Hugh Lee. Also surviving are a special niece, Lisa and Todd Woods, and their children Shannon and Stacey; nephew, Kevin Scott; and many other loving family and friends. Wayne worked many years to provide for his family before retiring from Lane Furniture. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He spent many hours listening to the bluegrass music he loved, and became a frequent traveler on the Crooked Road Music Trail. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Wednesday with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in the Hale Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to “The Crooked Road Music Trail”. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
