Page Alfred Matherly, age 81, of the Snow Creek Community Penhook, VA, departed his earthly life on Thursday, March 12, 2015. Born October 24, 1933 to the late Roy and Hopie Catherine Matherly, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Chandler Dale Matherly; four brothers, J.B, Carroll (Blue), Raymond & George; and two sisters, Estelle Oakes & Rebecca Pagans. Page was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Aleise Hogan Matherly of the home; one son, Dale Matherly (Brenda); four daughters, Patsy Becker, Betty Pagans (Danny), Pam Love (Josh) and Amy Layman; seven grandchildren, Cory Purcell, Matthew Pagans, Amanda Price, Dylan Layman, Eryn Layman, Dawsyn Layman and Rylee Layman; two great-grandchildren, Ava Price and Luke Pagans; one sister, Joan Dyches; and two brothers, Ronald & Gerald. Page was a lifetime member of Forrest Hill Christian Church. He retired from DuPont after 31 years of service and was also into farming most his life. He was very active in his community serving on the Franklin County Board of Supervisors for the Snow Creek District fourteen years. Page thought it a privilege to help his fellow man and has received awards and a Certificate of Honor for his years of commitment to Franklin County and the Commonwealth of VA. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The Matherly family is in the care of Flora Funeral Home, Rocky Mount. Visitation will be at Forrest Hill Christian Church on Saturday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, Wayne Keith, Minister, presiding.
