Paul Rakes

Paul Rakes, age 84 of Rocky Mount died Sunday, July 26, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Rakes; parents, Edward and Elizabeth Rakes; brother, Zella Rakes; and sister, Gladys Hankins. Surviving are his children, Curtis (Betty) Rakes, Diane (Keith) Harless, Joe (Amy) Rakes, Joann (Vincent) Callaway; grandchildren, Jennifer Mammolenti, Jeff Rakes, Danielle Irvin, Josh Rakes, Justin Rakes, Amber Callaway. Ricky France, Abigail Harless, Dakota Rakes and Jacob Rakes; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Nelson Rakes; sister, Ruby Cash; many nieces and nephews. Paul retired from Lane Furniture with many years of service. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Richard Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Minton Family Cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
