Paula Lou Voorhees Alexander, 67, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at her home in Moneta, Va. She was born on June 11, 1948, and was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Norma Voorhees of Grove City, Pa. Throughout her life, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Moneta. Her hobbies included water aerobics, book club, bunco, church nursery/preschool program, and pouring love into the lives of her grandchildren. She received her degree from Riverside White Cross School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio, in 1969. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 46 years, Ralph “Skip” Alexander of Moneta; her sons, Brian (Nicki) Alexander of Rocky Mount; Casey Alexander of Rocky Mount; and daughter, Wendy (Craig) Oliver of Boones Mill; and her grandchildren, Ethan and Ashlyn Oliver and Andrew, Carter, and Eli Alexander. She also leaves behind her sisters, Ellen (Pete) Beck of Moneta, and Beverly (Michael) Swartzlander of Hendersonville, N.C.; brother, Norman Richard “Hank” (Susie) Voorhees of Grove City, Pa.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted by Pastor David Lord at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Moneta on Sunday September 20, 2015. Her family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. with a memorial service at 3 p.m. followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall.
