Peggy Marie Thornhill Janney, of Boones Mill, departed this life to be with her heavenly father for eternity this 26th day of September, 2008 at the age of 80 years old.
Peggy was a loving wife to her husband of 65 years, Coy C. Janney, Sr. of Boones Mill; a loving mother to her three beloved children all of Boones Mill, Coy C. Janney, Jr. and wife Ellen, Ronnie Lee Janney and wife Sarah, Linda Marie Janney; loving grandmother to John Kevin Janney of Norfolk, Tonya Leigh Janney of Boones Mill, Rhonda Janney McFalls and husband Kenneth of Boones Mill, Kerry Arnold Dillon, Jr. of Boones Mill, April Dillon Bond and husband Jerry of Christiansburg, Donna Lynn Janney of Roanoke; loving grandmother to her great-grandchildren, Samuel Lee McFalls, Sarah Katherine McFalls, Abigail Grace Janney and Emma Leigh Janney, all of Boones Mill. Peggy is also survived by her brother, Jack Thornhill of Roanoke.
Peggy was an active member of Boones Mill Baptist Church until the time she was admitted to Pheasant Ridge Nursing Home in March, 2007. Peggy loved and cared for all the children in the church, all of whom she considered her own. Peggy managed the kitchen and cleaned the church of many, many years. In addition to teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir, Peggy mothers many more than her own three children and will always be remembered for that love in addition to her love for Christ which she demonstrated by her devotion to her church family. Words cannot express the emptiness that will forever remain in the worldly lives of Peggy’s family as a result of her death. They will finally rejoice again when they meet her in heaven.
Funeral services will be conducted from Boones Mill Baptist Church 11 a.m. Monday with Dr. Richard Harrell and Rev. James Steele officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
