Peggy Mullins Via, age 89 of Rocky Mount, Virginia went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, October 10, 2025. A beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, Peggy graced everyone she met with kindness, compassion, and her signature sense of humor. She had a special gift for lighting up any room, and to know Peggy was truly to love her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.

Born in Franklin County on November 9, 1935, Peggy was the eldest of three children born to Wilbur L. Mullins Sr. and Mary Mullins. She graduated from Franklin County High School and in May 28,1956 married the love of her life, Joe Via. Together, they enjoyed a joyful life full of travel, fellowship and devotion to the Lord.

Peggy was a well-known and respected member of the Rocky Mount community. She served as Secretary to the Mayor of Rocky Mount and later worked at Flora Funeral Service, where her warmth and welcoming nature made a lasting impression on all who met her. She never met a stranger.

A proud founding member of Franklin Heights Church, Peggy was deeply devoted to her faith. Her greatest joy was serving the Lord and living as a true example of a Godly woman. She considered her role at Franklin Heights to be among her most meaningful contributions in life.

Peggy is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Mullins; her cherished nephews, Mark Mullins (Patricia), Mike Mullins (Pam) and Matt Mullins; and her beloved great-niece, Megan Thomas (Brian) and their soon-to-arrive daughter, Millie Kate Thomas.

She rejoices in heaven with her beloved husband, Joe Via; her brother, Wilbur “Jimmy” Mullins; her baby sister, Betty Lois Mullins; and her dear parents, Wilbur and Mary Mullins.

A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Flora Funeral Chapel. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor Larry Holland and Pastor Stan Parris. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.

Peggy lived a life of faith, love, and service. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
