Percy Kyrus Furrow, age 69 of Rocky Mount went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. Percy was born on March 7, 1942 to the late Sherman Alvin Furrow and Eva Wimmer Furrow Guilliams. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Belvie Hall Furrow; and two brothers, Franklin “Bud” Furrow and Sherman Alvin Furrow, Jr. Percy lived his life for the Lord and worked hard for his family. He had one son, Michael Shannon (Chelsea Boyd) Furrow; two daughters, Wanda Gail Shively and Marcella Renee Ledbetter. There was no doubt he loved his grandchildren, Joseph Washburn, Amanda (Joey) Smith, Tiffany Furrow, Joshua “Bo” Ledbetter, Antoinette “Toine” Shively, Brandon Furrow, Quintin Shively, and Michaela Furrow; one very special great-grand-child, Brayden Smith. Percy had sisters who he cherished, Clara (Richard) Eanes, Frances “Sis” Waldrop, Lois (Shirley) Campbell; one brother, Wayne (Poppy) Furrow; also a very special pet “Lucy”. Percy was a hard working man who served his community as a mechanic. He had a heart of gold, and a voice of steel. He was a long time member of Furnace Creek Baptist Church where his church family became his own. Funeral services will be conducted from Furnace Creek Baptist Church 11 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 with Rev. Mike Lawhorn and Rev. Ronald Coleman officiating. He will be laid to rest with his loving wife in the Hall Family Cemetery in Ferrum. A fellowship meal will be served at the church for family and friends following the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Furnace Creek Baptist Church, 975 Scuffling Hill Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2012 at Furnace Creek Baptist Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
