Perlina “Polly” Adkins Hancock, age 67 of Rocky Mount died Sunday, August 3, 2008 in Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 14, 1941 a daughter of the late Charlie R. and Elizabeth H. Adkins. She was also preceded in death by a son, David W. Hancock.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her sons, Paul R. Hancock, Jimmy D. Hancock, Bassett, Michael D. Martin, Rocky Mount and Corey L. Thompson, Roanoke; daughter, Judy H. Handy, Patrick Springs, Dora L. Perdue, Stuart; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda M. Hall, Elizabeth F. Linkous, Bassett, Mary F. Ingram, Stuart and Shirley A. Martin, Patrick Springs; brothers, Charlie R. Adkins, Jr., Stuart, Buddy R. Adkins, Martinsville; step brother, George F. Adkins, Rocky Mount; special friends, Betty, Ricky and Dot Martin; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2008 with Pastor Terry Dalton officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street.
