Phebe Jamison Bowman

Phebe Elizabeth Jamison Bowman of Wirtz, daughter of Elmer and Jennie Lavy Jamison born September 30, 1925 in Roanoke, Va. peacefully departed this life in the early morning hours on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized into the Old German Baptist Church to which she remained faithful. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 70 years, William B. Bowman; one son, Delmar and Florence Bowman of Wirtz; two daughters, Elva and Randy Boone of Boones Mill, Leona and James Reed of Hillsboro, WI; daughter-in-law and husband, Leona (Bowman) Knaus of Knob Noster, MO; 22 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Virgil Jamison; brother-in-law, Jacob Montgomery; many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Oak Hill Old German Baptist Brethren Church 10 a.m. Thursday with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and 2-5 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Church. The family request flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Sunshine Valley School, 770 Angle Plantation Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151.
