Phyllis Ann Hampton, age 78 of Rocky Mount, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital with her family at her bedside after battling her recent diagnosis of lung cancer. Phyllis, formerly of Caretta, WVA was born February 4, 1936 in English, WVA, a daughter of the late Allen and Luzan Lovevenia Griffith of Raysal, WVA. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hampton; sisters Donna Hagerman and Sue Hatfield. Surviving are her sons, Michael Wayne Hampton and Timothy Scott Hampton; special granddaughters Tiffani Brooke Hampton and Ashley Dawn Hampton-White; special grandson, Zachary Tyler Hampton; great grandchildren, Haley and Austin White; brothers, Billy Griffith (Scarlett), Sonny Griffith (Brenda), Roger Griffith (Ruth); sisters, Drema Schuler, Linda Meyers and Mary Ruthe Evans; a host of many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
