Posey Lester "P.L." Lynch, Jr.

Wednesday April 19, 2017 Posey Lester “P.L.” Lynch, Jr. went home to be with his savior Jesus Christ. He was 88 years old and is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nancy Hall Lynch and his children Gail Abbott (John), Lester Lynch (Beth) and Brenda Taylor (John Mark, deceased.) He adored his grandchildren, Ryan Abbott, Conner Lynch, Cameron Lynch, Laura Haerer and Timmy Haerer and they adored him. He is also survived by his sisters, Eleanor Woody and Anne McBride and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Posie and Alice Lynch, brothers Cecil and Guy Lynch, sister Lorene Thurman, brothers-in-law Guy Woody, Wilford Thurman, and Hughes McBride, and sisters-in-law Virginia Lynch, Emily Lynch and Peggy Lynch. P.L. worked in highway construction throughout Virginia and North Carolina, working for companies such as Talbot Marks, NelloTeer, Branch, Turner Brothers and Barnhill. He served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Greenland. He was a member of Redwood United Methodist Church, and served faithfully. According to his children, he was the best man to walk this earth since Jesus. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He loved to tell jokes, and with his passing some of the laughter left this world. Services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Flora Funeral Service with Rev. Susan Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Redwood UMC cemetery. His family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
