Rabon Alton Bussey

Our beloved Rabon (Tink) Bussey, age 82 of Rocky Mount passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018. Rabon was born in Rocky Mount, VA to the late John William Bussey and Elizabeth Saul Bussey; in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Cornelius (Jack) Bussey, James (Jake) Bussey, Walter (Herbert) Bussey, Bunion (B.B.) Bussey and Artis Lee Bussey; his beloved sister, Anna Bussey Morris. Rabon is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jeanette (Judy) Hodges Bussey; two sons, Rabon Bussey Jr. (Caryn) and Mark Bussey (Karen); four granddaughters, Elizabeth Bussey, Olivia Bussey, Kathryn Mason and Olivia Mason; one grandson, Bennett Bussey; three sisters, Nadine Bussey Rutrough, Avis Bussey Board and Patsy A. Bussey (Pat). Rabon was active in all his sons activities from their childhood to adulthood. Rabon served in the U.S. Army, being honorably discharged, starting his professional life as an employee at E.I. DuPont Company until his retirement. Rabon has been a lifelong member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church. He was an amazing son, brother, father, husband, grandfather, coach and friend who always put the needs of others in front of his own. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018 with Chaplain Rick Poland and Rev. David Slayton officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials be made to Rocky Mount Baptist Church, 85 West Church Street, Rocky Mount, VA 24151 or The American Heart Association. His family will receive friends 5-8 pm Monday, November 26, 2018 at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center.
