Raymond Marshall Chitwood, Sr.

Raymond Marshall Chitwood, Sr. of Rocky Mount was born February 10, 1942 went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 29, 2015. Marshall was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved the outdoors and NASCAR. He was a long time employee of Roanoke Electric Steel and retired from MW Manufactures. Marshall was preceded in death by his loving mother Ora LaPrade and father Russell, former wife Shirley Chitwood, brother Forrest Chitwood, sister, Betty Nester. He is survived by sons Raymond Marshall Chitwood, Jr. (Ruby), Lewis Chitwood (Donna), daughters Susie Holleman (Keith), Judy Chitwood (Timmy), stepsons Calvin Hodges, Norman Hodges, step-daughter Angela Hodges and their mother Lou Ella Chitwood also survived by sisters, Nancy Mason (Wilson), Brenda Meeks, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. V. Kerri,the Infusion Center of Lewis Gale Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospice of Salem and Cindy, Brenda, Nicole, Chrys for their loving care and comfort to Marshall. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday April 1, 2015 at Flora Funeral Chapel with Pastor Eugene Chitwood officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount and other times at the home of Brenda Meeks.
