Rebecca Reuben Dyer, age 75 of Henry, VA passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at her home from complications of Parkinsons disease.

She was born September 15, 1950, the daughter of the late Andrew Reuben Dyer and Lavinia Susan Carter Dyer in Richmond, VA. She attended Manchester High School in Midlothian, VA, where she made a lifelong friend in Connie Kade of Delaware. After high school she attended Marymount University in Arlington, VA. She graduated and was employed by the federal government in Washington, DC where she eventually retired from the Energy Department after almost 40 years.

After retiring from her job, she sold her home in Alexandria, VA and moved to Henry, VA into her family home where she lived the last 16 and a half years of her life. She loved the outdoors where she worked with her flowers, roses, shrubs, and herbs until she no longer could. She loved to shop at estate sales and Fido’s Finds where she found beautiful art and glassware.

Over the years she belonged to the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) for 38 years, and currently she was a member of the Old Carolina Road Chapter. Rebecca was a past member of Arlington House (Historian), Pentagon Chapter and Mt. Vernon Chapter, where she worked with her longtime friend Claudette Hark, and many others on various projects.

Rebecca belonged to the National Society of Colonial Dames Seventeenth Century (NSCDXVIIC) Necostin Chapter where she held the office of Registrar, 2021-2023, and Recording Secretary from 2011-2013. She was an expert in her family ancestry as well as other families. Rebecca was a member of the Franklin County Historical Society and the SPCA. She loved to travel and especially loved her trips to Paris, Mexico and various other destinations. She enjoyed trying new restaurants and new food and could have been hired as food critic.

Rebecca is survived by many cousins, friends and by her caregivers whom she greatly appreciated and thankful for them being the reason she got to spend her final years in her home. A special thanks to Rev. Susan Spangenberg and the hospice crew for their compassion and understanding. Thanks to those who remained with her till the end.

Rebecca loved her dogs who pre-deceased her, Brodie, Missy, FiFi, and Little Berry and others as well. Her dog Lacey survives her and was and is cared for by her friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Flora Funeral Chapel. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Pearson Memorial Park at her home in Henry, VA.
