Rebecca Ann Maddy

Rebecca Meeks Maddy, age 73 of Hardy, went to be with the Lord after a battle with Alzheimer’s on Thursday, December 29, 2016. Rebecca was a member of Furnace Creek Baptist Church and had retired from textile work where she worked in quality control for 48 years. Rebecca was a diligent and hard working person her entire life. She was preceded in death by her parents Irvin Pickurel and Gladys Pickurel DeHart; and her loving companions Casey, Chrissy, Boots and Pepper. Rebecca loved her Lord and loved life, she loved the beach, gardening and all her animals. Survivors include her husband, David Maddy, her brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Clara Pickurel and her son Anthony Meeks. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 3, 2017 at Flora Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeff Richards officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
