Mary Rebecca Bussey Renick, 84 of 2331 Callaway Road, Rocky Mount Virginia 24151 went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior to sing with the Angels on Saturday, May 14, 2011. She was surrounded by her loving family. Becky was born June 10, 1926 in Franklin County. She was a member of Gogginsville United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years and served on several committees, Evangelism, Youth Counselor for the MYF Charter, and charter member of the United Methodist Women. She was the daughter of the late Forrest D. Bussey and Mary Myrtle Lavinder Bussey. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Rexford H. Renick “Rex”; her beloved son Donald F. Renick; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Ethel Renick; and brother-in-law, Leo M. Renick. Her surviving family are her sons and two precious daughters-in-law, Edward R. Renick “Eddie” and wife Connie of Tyler, Texas, Dr. Charles R. Renick of Columbia, South Carolina, Paige Law Renick, Rocky Mount. Granny Becky’s grandchildren who were so special to her, Kathy and Terry Poff, Kerry and Donna Renick all of Boones Mill, Matt and Robyn Renick of Tyler, Texas, Melissa McTee of Tyler, Texas; great-grandchildren who she dearly loved, Emily Paige Poff, Stephen Hunter Poff, Tyler Donald Renick, Troy McTee; brothers and their wives, Claude D. Bussey and wife Jean, Forrest D. Bussey and wife Margaret, James H. Bussey and wife Sarah, R. Wayne Bussey and wife Jewell all of Rocky Mount; sisters and brothers-in-law, Iris Bussey Sink of Callaway, Virginia, Betty Bussey Woodford and husband Warren Woodford of Moneta, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Barbara Reynolds Renick of Rocky Mount; a host of nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews, who were all a special part of her life when they were growing up. M. Carl Mayers, who she loved as a son of Columbia, South Carolina. Becky, was born to sing. She has a great love for all music and was in the presence of the Lord especially when she sang gospel music. She loved it. Her special treat came when she visited in South Carolina to hear and listen to her son Charles play the harp at many engagements at church and in his choir, and in Tyler, Texas with Eddie, Connie, Matt, Robyn, Missy and Troy when we all would take time to stop and smell the roses along the way in the beautiful Tyler Rose Garden. As Eddie would say “Mama Loved Roses!” Pink Roses! Red Roses! Roses! Roses!. She loved her quilting buddies, Margaret Jones, Bert Clingenpeel, Beula Davis, Dorothy Webb, Goldie Overfelt, Mabel Flora, Jean Bussey, Geraldine Sink, Mevva Hodges, the late Thelma Morris, Susan Dittler, Iris Tyler, the late Hattie Agee, Jerline Guilliams. Thank you for the fellowship, your love, and for every stitch we made. Frances Overfelt Keeney for coming and playing the piano from time to time, making the day sweeter. Debbie and Stephen, Rita and Tommy Barlow “very special”, adopted children who she loved and claimed as her own, Christopher, Rashael, Domencia and Wesley Jones, who are “Missionaries in Quita Ecuador, South America. Her dear friends, Ron, Mary, and Jani Kellogg for the ride out to Texas, we sang with the rain pouring down all the way. What fun we had. To all my family for all your love and care given to me all these years. Those were the good times. My love to each one of you, especially Betty, my caregiver. Funeral services will be conducted from Gogginsville United Methodist Church 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Mark Richardson and Minister LeRoy Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family request that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to Gogginsville United Methodist Church, c/o Margie Jones, 300 Old Plantation Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Gogginsville United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
