Reva Mills Hammock

Reva Mills Dillon Hammock, age 77 of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at her home. She was born September 26, 1933 a daughter of the late Roy and Lottie Young Mills. After the death of her paternal father she was raised by her parents, Buford and Lottie Mills Lynch. Reva was also preceded in death by the father of her children, Gene Dillon; Leffie Hammock, Jr. her husband of 42 years; two brothers, Kennis and Dennis Mills. Reva was a charter member of Furnace Creek Baptist Church where she was active for 50 years serving in Sunday School, W.O.M., and 15 years as church treasurer. She then transferred to Sandy Ridge Baptist Church and served in Sunday School and W.O.M. as long as her health allowed. She was also a 50 year member and past Worthy Matron of the Rocky Mount Chapter #141 Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, Bruce Dillon, Joe and Anita Dillon; grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Hodges, Michelle Lynn Dillon, Amy Elizabeth Dillon, Megan Jo Dillon; great-grandchildren, Issac and Jacob Hodges; sisters and brothers, Betty Goggin, Kailey Lynch and wife Sherry, Janet Aker and husband Bud, Ann Gilbert and husband Eddie; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby and Janet Hammock; many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her church family. Funeral services will be conducted from Sandy Ridge Baptist Church 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Joe Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund, 1444 Bonbrook Mill Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, also one hour prior to the service on Friday and other times at the home of Joe and Anita Dillon, 231 Bonbrook Mill Road, Rocky Mount.
