Richard A. Anderson

Richard Alfred Anderson, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 16, 2017. He was born July 27, 1928, a son of the late James and Mattie Hodges Anderson of Rocky Mount.  Richard is survived by his children, Judy A. Arthur and Tim Anderson (Robin); as well as the grandchildren he adored, Shelli Arthur, and Ryan Anderson; also surviving are sisters, Katherine Pinckard (Cordell), and Louise Hodges and brother, Tom Anderson (Nellie) all of Rocky Mount. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Katie McCrickard Anderson; brothers, Fred, Radford, and Paul Anderson; sister, Barbara Mitchell. Richard farmed the land in Franklin County for as many years as he was able, and loved attending Doe Run Christian Church. The family extends our heartfelt thanks to Patricia Easome and Vickie Harris for your help over the last several months, you both are angels. We love you Pa and will cherish your sweet memory forever. We’ll take care of the birds and rabbits in your memory. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017 with Rev. Michael Stump officiating. Interment will follow in Boones Chapel Church of the Brethren Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Doe Run Christian Church. His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount, Va.
