Richard B. Eanes died Sunday, November 7, 2021. He was born June 26, 1932 in Henry County to the late Richard and Alice Eanes. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister. Richard is survived by his wife, Clara Eanes and sister, Rachel Kendall (Max), several in laws along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Richard was a well-known local guitar player of bluegrass and gospel music. He had a passion for music and performed with many local musicians. He was a member of the Dairy Queen band for many years. Richard had a great love of baseball and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. He was a gentle soul with a kind heart. He was dedicated to his wife of 64 years and was beloved by his friends and family. Richard was a devout Christian and remained active in the church throughout his life. He worked for 10 years at Appalachian Power and 25 years at Dupont. He will be greatly missed, but know he is healed and playing guitar on the other side waiting for his bride.
Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2021 with Pastor Stan Parris and Pastor Bobby Young officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. His family will receive friends Tuesday, November 9, 2021, 6-8 pm at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center Rocky Mount.
