Richard Charles Gibbs “Tedabo”, age 63, of Boones Mill died Monday morning July 23, 2007 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was a former employee of Jack Garst Agency, Rocky Top Wood Preserves, and Cooper Wood Products.
He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Sexton; a sister Barbara Good; brother Jack Kaufman; and a special father Otey “Red” Brooks.
Surviving are his loving wife of 37 years Linda Roop Gibbs; daughters and son-in-law Angie G. and Jeff Hodges of Boones Mill, and Monica Gibbs of Richmond; grandchildren Chelsea Wade Hodges, and Alyshia Danielle Hodges; a very special mother Jean Brooks, Boones Mill; brothers and sisters Perry and Bonnie Brooks, Boones Mill, Charlie and Valerie Brooks of Virginia Beach, Don and Nancy Brooks, Sue and Bobby McAllister, Henry Brooks all of Boones Mill, Robert Shepard and Pat Shaver of NC, Chuck and Pam Shepard, Salem, Lenora and Mike Bell, Roanoke, Gerry and Barbara Perrett, JoAnn and Tom Duffy of Michigan, and John Gibbs of Michigan; brother-in-law, Lonnie Roop; sisters-in-law, Violet and Bob Spence and Rosemary Stanback all of Boones Mill; special friends Lynn Boitnott, Tommy Wright and Kia Robertson; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Robert Miller and Elder Bill Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the family cemetery.
Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday with his family receiving friends from 6-8:30 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 S. Main Street, Rocky Mount.
