Ricky Dale Pagans

It is with a saddened heart that we announce the passing of Ricky Dale Pagans, age 66 of Rocky Mount, VA on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. He was the only son of the late Henry Hoover Pagans and Norma Carol Zeigler Pagans. However, Ricky is rejoicing as he has longed to get back to his parents in heaven, along with his special aunt and uncle, Charolette and Bobby Zeigler; and cousin, Eddie.

Ricky worked tirelessly with his father Hoover at Pagans Save Station since the 11th grade until the closing in 2006. Pagans Save is now Dollar Tree and since the closing of the business and the loss of precious family members, Ricky has been lost. Ricky survived a triple by-pass, colon cancer, seven totaled cars and nine lives, yet he persevered. Ricky worked hard and played hard. He was a beautiful soul whose light went dim.

He’s always been an avid Bud Light, FC Sports, UVA Cavaliers and NASCAR fan pulling for #28, San Francisco 49ers fan and a lover of fast, red cars.

He married twice, and divorced twice. He had no children of his own but he openly called his step-children, Coree Weaver Pienkowski and Ryan David Weaver his own. He cherished them for the past 35 years. Then Coree blessed him to be a step-grandfather to two of his biggest pride and joy’s: Caedyn Grace Riddle and Chloe Faith Riddle for the past 15 years. Karla, his ex-wife, friend, advisor and life-long family caretaker, made a promise to Hoover before his passing. “to watch over and protect his wife, Norma and son, Ricky”. Karla feels honored to have been a part of the Pagans family all of these years and after laying all three to rest, her duty is done. May they all rest in peace.

Also left to cherish his memory are several special close cousins, Bonnie, Barbara, Ron, Kenny, Penny, Susan, Gene, Debbie, Clifford, Donna and numerous others; and brother-in-law, Kurt. Ricky cherished his friends, Mark Vest, Timmy Anderson, Jesse Dudley, and heck half the county; and one special miniature Aussie Shepherd, Holly Noel who he lovingly referred to as “Cookie Monster”.

Ricky was blessed and loved by many and blessed those less fortunate. Until we meet again. Go rest high my love, the battle is over.

A graveside service will be conducted from Franklin Memorial Park 3 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2025 with Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. His family will receive friends 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
