Robert David Bates

Robert David Bates, age 81 of Glade Hill, went to be with the Lord Thursday March 13, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents Luther and Ellen Bates. David enjoyed sharing his musical talents with church, family and friends. He was an avid Nascar fan. He attended Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Wirtz and was a retired Supervisor for Hooker Furniture in Stanleytown where he also served on the volunteer fire department. Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years Clora Dillon Bates; son Robert Danny Bates; daughter Sandy Bates Seidell and special friend Frank Massey; grandson Christopher Brian Seidell and fiancé Heather Nicole Boyd; granddaughters Danielle Christiane Seidell and Hannah Alexandria Seidell; sister and brother-in-law Fern and Harold Campbell; sisters-in-law Frances C. Landrum, Geraldine Sigmon and Lena Fralin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Shirley and Roy Hale of San Antonio, TX, Willie and Gracie Dillon, Fulton and Betty Dillon, George (Mac) and Helen Dillon; brothers-in-law Roosevelt Dillon and Russell Dillon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 1447 Wirtz Rd., Wirtz, VA 24184. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Monday with Rev. Leonard Foley officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
