Robert T. Hatchett

Robert Tate Hatchett, age 86 of Penhook died Wednesday, April 9, 2014. He was born March 22, 1928 a son of the late Henry and Mattie Palmer Hatchett. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Giles and Talmadge Hatchett; and sister, Emmaleen Scott. Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Marie C. Hatchett; children, Robert Michael Hatchett (Bonnie Sue), Jerry Allen Hatchett (Bonnie Lee), Betty Jean Moorman (Ron), Kelly Lee Hatchett (Gwen), Glenn Ross Hatchett (Terri), Laurie Anne Young (Terry); 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Randolph Hatchett; numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was a member of Forrest Hill Christian Church where he served as Elder for over 60 years. He was also a charter member of the Snow Creek Fire Department and a Dairy Farmer for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and leader in the community whose life was full of service to others. Funeral services will be conducted at Forrest Hill Christian Church 2:30 p.m. Sunday with Wayne Keith, Minister and Lee Ashley, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Snow Creek Fire Department or Rescue Squad or to the Forrest Hill Christian Church Missions Program. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Forrest Hill Christian Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
