Robert Shirley Hodges

Robert Shirley Hodges, age 88 of Ferrum, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2019. Born on January 8, 1931, in Rocky Mount, Va., he was the son of the late Raymond and Edna Hodges, and was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Nathaniel Hodges. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frances Worley Hodges; two sons, Jeffrey Hodges, of Salem, Va., and Anthony Hodges and his wife, Courtney, of Singers Glen, Va.; and two grandchildren, Matthew Hodges of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Melanie Hodges of Oxford, Ohio. Robert was retired from General Electric in Salem, Va., where he was employed for 35 years. In addition to enjoying spending time with his family, he was an avid outdoorsman and talented woodworker who also loved watching television and movie Westerns. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, at Flora Funeral Service in Rocky Mount with Rev. William Murdock officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 21, at Flora Funeral Service.
