Robert Chester Naff, Jr., (Bob) age 77 of Boones Mill died Thursday, August 14, 2008.
He was a graduate of Boones Mill High School and attended Virginia Tech. Bob was a member of Bethlehem Church of the Brethren and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a dairy farmer most of his life, after which he was a bailiff for Franklin County Juvenile and Domestic Court and he was a part time guard at Ronile. Bob was a longtime member of both the Boones Mill Lions Club and Rescue Squad, and was a staunch Democrat and a devoted Boston Red Sox fan. In his younger years, Bob had lots of fun with his friends at the old A & V.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Hudson Naff; his mother, Clytie Jamison Naff; his father, Robert Chester Naff, Sr.; and his brother, Euell W. Naff.
He is survived by his stepdaughter Mary Katherine and Keith Adkins; stepson John Clifford Simms; several step grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Hudson Williams, Martha Hudson Divers, Frances Hudson Dooley, Martha Ann Naff; nephew, Leighton Naff. Also surviving are his very, very special friends, Judy and Mike Byrd; aunts, Jean Naff, Ethel Naff, Vivian Martin and Janet Sanders; many cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted from Bethlehem Church of the Brethren 11 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 with Rev. Harold Moyer and Rev. J. Willard Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
