Robert Elmer Orris

Robert "Bob" Elmer Orris, age 82 of Rocky Mount passed away Friday, April 4, 2014. He was born March 12, 1932 a son of the late James Orris and Edna Mathy. Bob retired from Dupont with 28 years of service and served in the United States Navy. He was a member of Furnace Creek Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Director for many years. He enjoyed his golfing buddies and loved and witnessed to the Lord. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Barbara W. Orris; two daughters, Debbie Smart (Archie) and Gayle Paschal (Jimmy) of Eden, NC; granddaughter, Freda Paschal; great grandson, Landon Austin; brother, James Orris; many nieces and nephew. Funeral services will be conducted from Furnace Creek Baptist Church 11 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 with Dr. Richard Harrell, Sr. and Rev. J. Larry Holland officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Furnace Creek Baptist Church. His family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
