Robert English Parcell, “Bobby” age 87 of Rocky Mount, born September 7, 1930 and passed away April 29, 2018. He made his last journey to be with the Lord and celebrate a family reunion where now he is walking and talking again. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 36 years, Lillian; precious daughter, Sally Starling; parents, William and Eva English Parcell; brother, Billy; sisters, Julia Kelly and Ruth Gills; grandsons, Chris Finney and Jayson Richards. He is survived by daughters, Bobbie Wright and Julia Beavers; children he loved as his own, Deloras Whitt, Debra Holmes and Jay Richards. Papa Bob will be loved and missed forever by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He served our country in the Army, honorably and bravely as a Purple Heart Veteran of the Korean War. After 35 years of dedication to the RF&P Railroad, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and making friends across our beautiful country. Sincere thanks to special friends and caregivers at VVCC who loved Bob. Much appreciation to friends and neighbors, Frank and Annie Tyree for their continued love and support. Your visits, friendship and kindness to Bob throughout his difficult days meant so much to him. He will be forever missed by all who loved him. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 2101 Goose Dam Road, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Memorial graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Anderson Family Cemetery with Pastor Chris Bennett officiating.
