Robert Hooker (Pipewrench) Turner, age 86 of Rocky Mount died Tuesday, November 06, 2007 in the UVA Medical Center due to injuries received in an accident at his home.
He was born on May 14, 1921, a son of the late Robert Lee and Sally Jones Turner. Mr. Turner owned and operated Robert H. Turner, Plumbing and Heating for approximately 50 years. He learned his trade while working at the Newport News Ship Yard.
A very special note and tribute to his ATV buddies at the Jones Farm with special love to Walter, Roy, Herbert and Thomas Jones and Frances Reynolds.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Alma Turner Arrington and Pauline Patterson Worley; his cousins George and Jessie Jones and their brother-in-law, Roy Reynolds.
He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 67 years, Mary Parcell Turner; his daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Darius McBride, Rocky Mount, Margie and Reggie Lemon, Roanoke; his grandchildren, Jonathan (Randy) and Stephanie McBride, Lynchburg, Wes and Melissa McBride, Rocky Mount, MarAnna L. and Jeff McKone, Cary, North Carolina, Brett Winter Lemon, Roanoke; three great-grandchildren, Alexus, Chandler and Olivia.
Funeral services will be conducted from Sandy Ridge Baptist Church 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Joe Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund, 1444 Bonbrook Mill Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount and other times at the home of Carolyn and Darius McBride.
